I previously reported on 1st March 2026 that the Video Upscaler AI (Kairo Anime Model) in v4030 produces noticeably worse image quality compared to versions v3024/3025.
https://community.unifab.ai/d/410-request-restore-previous-anime-upscale-quality-v30243025-vs-v3040
However, even after several updates — now up to v4070 — there has been no update or improvement regarding this issue.
I tested again with v4070, and unfortunately, nothing has changed. Below is a comparison between two files.
Left: created on 15 August 2025
Right: created recently with v4070
Both encoded using Kairo (Anime) Mode + H264 High Video Quality Mode
I also compared both files using MediaInfo, and the marked sections clearly show differences in output behavior.

One example is the change from 24.000 CFR in the older file to 24.118 VFR in the recent file, despite using the same settings.
Note:
The difference in video length is because I trimmed file to 2 minutes to reduce testing time (a full encode takes over 30 minutes).
The trimming was done using smart rendering, so the original source quality was not altered.
As I mentioned before, I strongly hope the output quality can be restored to what it was before August 2025.
Right now, my encoding workflow has completely stalled because the current quality is not usable.
While new features continue to be added, it feels like existing users are being left behind when long‑standing core functions are degraded and the issues remain unaddressed.
The Anime AI Upscale feature is one of UniFab’s biggest strengths, so I hope this regression can be prioritized.
I look forward to an update as soon as possible.
