I upgraded to v4030 and tried encoding a 480p anime video using Upscale AI (1080p, Animation mode, H265, High Quality). However, the result looked noticeably less clear than before.
To confirm, I compared it with the same video I encoded back in August 2025 (v3024 or v3025) using 1080p, Animation Optimized, H264, High Quality. The older file is clearly sharper and more detailed.
Left image: Animation Optimized, H264, High Quality, v3024/3025
Right image: Animation Optimized, H265, High Quality, v4030
I also tested the same source file again with the following settings:
- 1080p, Animation Optimized, H265, High Quality
- 1080p, Animation Optimized, H264, High Quality
- 1080p, Animation Optimized, H264, Standard Quality
But all three outputs looked identical to the “less clear” result (the right image), even when zoomed in. Only the file sizes were different between #2 and #3.
Why does the image quality get worse every time the software is updated? I’m not sure which version caused the downgrade, but the quality from v3024/3025 was much better.
Please restore the previous level of quality by the next update.
Instead of focusing only on new features (which I personally don’t need), I hope UniFab continues to maintain and improve the quality of its long‑standing core functions.
I use UniFab mainly to upscale 480p anime and old video with AI, and the latest version produces worse results than before.
Additionally, Autopilot is not functioning at all in v4030, so I believe all related features - including Upscale AI - should be thoroughly reviewed.
