👍gonna download and give it a try. I actually have a bunch of old black-and-white videos that I can test this feature on. I’ve tried some other products before, but none of them seem to work well so far. Hopefully, Unifab AI won’t let me down. If it works well, I’m totally fine with paying for it

i would say it’s a perfect and amazing! the beta version has a few minor issues, sometimes i can’t drag the progress bar as i selecting a preview frame, hopefully you can fixed this

35 seconds of SD video (MPG2) takes more than 3 hours to colorize. I surely hope that the final version will be faster.
Question: Will the final version come as a PC installed version, so you don’t have to upload video to DVDFab??

anders354112 Hi, may I inquire about the model of your GPU? Subsequently, we will not be launching this feature on DVDFab; it will remain consistent with the current setup, serving as a functional module within UniFab.

Doesn’t work for me - I just get a black screen when I drop a B&W video onto the file selector box.
Windows 11, with a Nvidia graphics card.

I seems to ‘hang’ for a LOOOONG time, I prodded the PLAY and SCENE FORWARD buttons to encourage, then ejected the clip and then fully reloaded the same clip - and eventually it displayed in that UNIFAB Colorizer Player.
Not to good really to have such a loading lag?

I’m giving a try on an old Black Film I have, I got a similar Black screen as Mark but found I had not authorised the device.

Also, I forgot to switch the Laptop’s Nvidia graphics to prioritise the app to start with. Yep, it is very slow, but I suspect it might improve next time as I now have the app prioritised.

I’ll come back here once the Video is colourised and report how I find it. I suspect that, as it is a large old film, it will take quite a few days (probably all of next week). We should not underestimate the processing it has to do to change every pixel. I’ll report when the film is finished.

Love the idea. Some feedback I have noticed. 1. Super slow after adding file, often not able to select reference frame, it just never responds and you can’t drag slider or press play. 2. Edges, like the ears of people, sides of faces, etc. sometimes still B&W. 3. Sometimes colors wildly off. Can’t wait to see final product!

Ryan GeForce 3050 is at 71% so far completed. There are a lot of useful processes on UniFab, and if this works well, I’ll buy it and add it to the software I already have from DVDFab. Happy to carry on with the beta test

Here is an update on this. My first attempt can be considered a failure. It did colourise (it was not perfect), but it also compressed it so much that the quality was awful. That may have been my fault, as I ran it on autopilot mode. Also, when I uploaded it to my Plex server, it would not run it. I could run it on VLC, but that’s not what I want. So I’ll try again, but 11 days on my i7 Laptop was excessive.
So the second test took just 14 hours instead of 10 days, and the skin colour was still grey with flashes of skin colour, and military uniforms were green instead of blue. So, I’ll run another test, and this time, I’ll pick the heavier colours in the sample windows.
So, any suggestions on settings to improve?

andy1912949 Hello, what output quality did you use for compression? If you used standard or high quality and still experienced compression issues, please provide the log file.

Regarding the color rendering issue, I would like to ask whether the converted footage contains scene changes. The colorization is based on reference frames, so the effect is best for content within the same scene as the reference frame. Otherwise, there may be flickering or poor colorization.

Currently, the colorization feature can only achieve this level of accuracy. If you want optimal colorization for every scene, I recommend splitting the video into segments based on scenes before processing. This will produce the best results.
