Please don’t get me wrong. UniFab is great with some of its functions. However, when you’re dealing with issues such as latest release (4.2.4.0), it’s not the end of the world. I’ve invested heavily in DVDFab and its related products. They are some of the best out there.
But, there are some issues when it comes to UniFab. It’s in competition with Winxvideo (which is its own comprehensive package when it comes to AI and it’s own video enhancements, video editors, resolutions. Winxvideo tends to have a softer image that lacks vibrancy and sharpness of the enhanced versions, which is why I prefer UniFab. But Winxvideo AI also offers Face Restoration, conversion, colorization, stabilization and interpolation.
UniFab still wins here, but here’s the thing about these two:
First: neither software supports Vulkan SDK (which even NVIDIA supports and for any video encoder, should have Vulkan installed on their system).
Second: Both UniFab and Winxvideo are locked to the BT.2020 HDR upscaling profile, which is a big mistake as most regard BT.2100 HLG as the current and film/broadcast HDR format to be using at this point in time.
This is why it’s pointless to use UniFab and Winxvideo for HDR upscaling because they’re still using the 2020 over the 2100 model.
Trust me, there’s other professional software available (and it’s worth picking up the free version of DaVinci Resolve along with a couple of others) that’s perfectly capable of rendering your video in HDR regardless of whatever resolution the user chooses. UniFab’s HDR function I never touch because there’s far better software for HDR rendering (and even at 480p).
To UniFab, please understand while I understand the appeal of offering Cloud based AI rendering, every time I’ve tried your cloud AI services, it fails. I like the credits, but I doubt I’ll be spending those. And given UniFab was originally designed to be able to be used by the purchaser’s own hardware over cloud services, which came later, this coding trick in 4.2.4.0 was poorly executed. I like cutting down GPU usage from 98%-100% when using the AI models down to 30-50%, but I don’t like losing 99% of the UniFab software functions in the process- so fix that quick, please.
Thank you.
