Hi,
I’m posting because the recent changes to UniFab’s Audio Upmix module have broken a workflow that many of us rely on especially anyone using AfterEdit or authoring UHD/Blu‑ray discs.
The issue
In the latest versions of UniFab, the Audio Upmix module:
No longer outputs audio‑only files
Forces the upmix to be embedded inside a video container
Removes the ability to export .dts or.eac3 directly
No longer allows importing audio‑only sources for upmixing
This change makes the module unusable for anyone who needs to:
Add or replace audio tracks in AfterEdit
Build UHD/BD structures
Work with standalone audio files
Upmix audio without re‑encoding video unnecessarily
AfterEdit requires raw audio files, not video containers.
Right now, the only workaround is to let UniFab create a dummy video, then extract the audio manually which adds unnecessary steps and defeats the purpose of having an “Audio Upmix” tool.
Why this matters
The previous versions of UniFab allowed:
Audio‑only input
Audio‑only output
DTS/EAC3 standalone export
Clean integration with AfterEdit and other authoring tools
This was extremely useful for disc creators, editors, and anyone who works with multichannel audio.
Request
Please restore the ability to:
Import audio‑only files
Export audio‑only files (DTS and EAC3, etc.)
Use the Audio Upmix module without forcing a video container
Even if it’s an “Advanced Mode” or a toggle in the settings, having audio‑only output back would fix the broken workflows and make the tool usable again for disc authoring.
Why this is important
UniFab AfterEdit is designed around importing standalone audio tracks.
Removing audio‑only output from UniFab Upmix breaks the intended ecosystem.
Thanks for reading I hope this feature can be restored, because many of us depended on it.
