Thank you for your reply.
I’m happy because I found shortcuts for the Previous Frame/Next Frame functions that weren’t listed in the menu – they’re controlled by the RIGHT/LEFT keyboard cursors.
And with that in mind, for now – and just for now – a positive revolution in the program’s functionality would be adding these two shortcuts: “Project Beginning/Project End; Go to Start/Go to End.” All the other shortcut-related issues, which certainly require much more work, could be considered later.
Simply put, such a working set would be a satisfactory minimum functionality for many users for now (and for the long term).
2. How can I quickly add a selected snapshot from a video to the “Local mat” so I can use it at any time in the video?
Yes, I know there is a FREEZE function, but it works in a very limited way and NOT AT ALL in the way that is in the question.
In several programs I use/have used for years, this is quick and easy: I simply click the camera icon, which is located in an intuitive place—like the “like” button on Facebook or the “heart” button on other social media—and the selected snapshot simply lands in the media area (“Local mat” in your case).
Everything.
What I mean should be clear from the graphic I’m including here.
The snapshot doesn’t interfere with the video (it doesn’t cut the video or embed it in the video itself – where I found it). It simply lands in the project’s media area (“Local mat” in your case).
That’s one thing, but another—related and absolutely essential—is that a copy of the snapshot is automatically created, which lands in a location chosen by the user (and permanently saved in the settings until changed) on the PC – for example, the desktop.
This allows such a snapshot to be used, for example, as content or part of content for a social media post or other project.
- I start a project, review the footage, and often immediately know roughly where I want the snapshots, or perhaps excerpts from a news program that has a relevant and interesting description in its information bar. I use the “Local mat” to gather the materials I need for the project.
Then I easily place them or, after some thought, swap them in the desired location.
I can take additional snapshots at any time, without affecting the structure of the video loaded for editing.
No matter how many times I use the collected snapshots, they are still available on the “Local mat” for subsequent actions until the project is closed.
This is also how I select the video cover for the video.
In “VideoCruise,” so as not to have to go to an external program to create a cover from the exact video I’ve already loaded in “VideoCruise”(!) and then have to download it to the “Local mat,” I currently use the FREEZE function and drag that fragment from the video that was cut after this operation to its beginning.
But sometimes, after a while, I want to change the cover, and this involves another unnecessary segmentation of the video.
Perhaps there’s a function or method I’m not aware of that allows me to collect snapshots on the “Local mat” and in a selected user folder?
PS
I always consider that I don’t know something, that I can’t find my way around a given program, and that this may be the reason for my observations, that something isn’t working as it should, or that some obvious feature is missing. Ultimately, it may turn out that I’m wrong and have drawn completely unnecessarily critical conclusions.
However, I always spend more than “5 minutes” testing and am largely confident in my observations, because with the language barrier, it’s very tedious and time-consuming for me to express my observations and then continue the conversation in a way that the other party understands.
Therefore, I kindly ask for your understanding that I write, and will always write, as if my observations were 100% accurate, because precisely because of this language barrier, it’s easiest and most concise for me to describe exactly what I mean.
