Dear UniFab Support Team,
I am writing to report an issue regarding AV1 video encoding in UniFab. When I try to compress or convert a video to the AV1 codec, the software completely ignores my GPU and relies solely on the CPU (software encoding).
My System Specifications:
GPU: Intel Arc A380
CPU: [Intel® Core™ i9-14900K (3.20 GHz)]
OS: [Windows 11]
UniFab Version: [4.0.7.0]
The Problem:
Despite configuring the settings for hardware acceleration, the GPU utilization stays at 0% during AV1 encoding, while the CPU does all the work.
Troubleshooting steps I have already taken:
Enabled Hardware Acceleration (Intel Quick Sync) in UniFab general settings.
Updated to the latest official Intel Arc WHQL graphics drivers.
Set UniFab to “High performance” (using the Intel Arc GPU) in Windows Graphics settings.
Ensured that Resizable BAR (ReBAR) and Above 4G Decoding are enabled in my motherboard’s BIOS.
Crucial test: I tested the exact same AV1 (Intel QSV) encoding process using HandBrake. HandBrake successfully recognizes and fully utilizes the Intel Arc A380 for hardware encoding without any issues.
Since HandBrake works flawlessly, this confirms that my hardware, BIOS, and OS drivers are functioning correctly. The issue seems to be strictly isolated to how UniFab recognizes or utilizes the Intel Arc A380 for AV1 QSV.
Could you please advise if there is a specific setting I am missing, or if this is a known software bug that will be addressed in a future update?
Thank you for your time and assistance.
