I tried using both to upscale from 1080p to 4k. Here are the pros and cons
Pro: The speed is astonishing, this is something that Unifab has done a good job on and other upscale app creators have to learn from.
Cons: After upscaling from 1080p to 4k, I don’t see the quality difference - whether I used standard quality or Max quality. After upscaling the video looks the same - no difference - unlike what is claimed on the main page of the product page. If in the future, unifab could do what is claimed on the main page, that will be amazing. In addition, one drawback or weakness of the new RTX Rapid Upscaler AI is that it does not provide 10bit. Nowadays, all 4K are in 10bit now. I hope the next update there will be an adjustment or improvement on that - at least provide 10bit like what rapidhdr AI provides.
Please also training a bit more models - I have seen somebody wrote an article claiming how Unifab upscaler does better than Topaz on the main page. That is the opposite in fact, Topaz, though slower - a lot slower compared to Rapid AI, can do a much better job on AI upscaling in term of quality and models. Though there are some glitches in their models sometimes.
