I think it is extremely important tool. I did my first 3 tests. I’ve used trial version.
test 1. Transcription of video with no subtitles to original language.
Transcription as the words understanding in concerned was ok. Unfortunately there was many stop signs missing (. , ? !).
The formatting of subtitles was bad, no line breaks, no stop signs especially at the end of line.
test 2. Translation of video with no subtitles to desired language.
Similar issues as test 1 plus sort of translation mess. I think the software is not content aware but audio aware and that brings some challenges. I think that there should be a mechanism where software before transcribing audio should get a glimpse of the subjects from picture to see how many people speaking and what gender they are.
test 3. Translation of video with embedded subtitles (audio and subs in the same language) to desired language.
Here was much better but all above valid. Still issues with for example gender in desired language.
There was also some fun:
original language English was “You blew the man on the highway” (gunned down in this case); the translated meaning was “you had sex with the man on the highway” so this particular AI in more for love than killing:)
But keep working on this tool - is greatly needed. I am not sure that I should buy the software yet.
